Chelsea to land £25m transfer fee for Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan

Chelsea to sell Fikayo Tomori for just £25m
Chelsea are set to pocket £25million from the sale of Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan this summer.

Following a stunning loan spell, the Italian giants have made their intentions to land the young defender on a permanent deal clear.

Atletico 0-1 Chelsea: The one where Olivier Giroud scored goal of the season

'I'm flying high, defying gravity!'
It's funny how quickly form can take a turn in football. Not that Atletico were in particularly bad form when Chelsea traveled to Bucharest on Tuesday to face them. However when the draw was made, it felt like they were one of the most difficult teams the Blues could have faced. They completely dominated La Liga and were impenetrable at the back. Come February, their rivals have closed the gap, they had won just one of their previous four matches and had failed to keep a clean sheet in seven. The stars aligned for Thomas Tuchel's men.

Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle: The one that Timo Werner got back among the goals

Timo Werner scores his 10th goal of the season
100 days. 1000 minutes. And Timo Werner is back in the Premier League scoring saddle as it were. The startling numbers do make for a good bit of narrative, but like with most stats don't really give you the whole picture. In just about every match he has featured for Chelsea this season, the young German has proved he is more than just goals on the scoresheet. He is a force and it was great to see him rewarded for his efforts on Monday night. Hopefully now the never-ending questions about the drought can, you know, end.

Hands up if you were feeling pessimistic and thought you 'knew what was coming'. All the results across the weekend fell very favourably for Chelsea. Newcastle haven't managed a win at Stamford Bridge in nearly nine years. Plus they would be without their loan goal scorer Callum Wilson. This had Monday night upset written all over it topped with a Joelinton masterclass.

Chelsea 1-1 Aston Villa: The One that Chelsea threw away

This man is goals
Frank Lampard rung in the changes following Chelsea's embarrassing defeat at Arsenal. In part to send a warning, in part because Monday's Aston Villa clash fell less than 48 hours later. Only the boss really knows.

Chelsea 3-1 Leeds: The one that saw the return of actual fans

Unbeaten in the air
It's been eight long months but Saturday night finally saw the return of fans to Stamford Bridge. It may have only been two thousand and the ticket prices were grossly inflated - do better Chelsea - but it was magic to see supporters back in the stands. It was a step in the right direction.

Man United 0-0 Chelsea: The one where no one wanted to make a mistake

Like a city bus, you wait your managerial career for a goalless draw to come along and get two in less than a week. You are welcome neutrals. The Premier League had become a little too fun this season with mad results and goals galore. It's important to have balance -- something Chelsea could do with a little more of at the moment.

While loathe to ever agree with the musings of a mad man, Patrice Evra did make a solid point when he went to war with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink following Man United's stalemate with Chelsea. Both teams were playing from a position of fear. Neither side were willing to open themselves up in case they found their defence under siege.

Chelsea 6-0 Barnsley: The one King Kai scored his first ever hat-trick

If ever there was a perfect tonic for a slightly de-moralising defeat, it would be playing lower league opposition. In the Cup. At Stamford Bridge. Occasionally those teams will rock up with a swash-buckling swagger infused from the freedom of lack of expectation. This was not one of those times.

Not to undermine anyone's performance on Wednesday night, but Barnsley did offer as much help as possible. Four of their players were dinged with errors that led directly to goal. If felt as if they were trying to get the match over with as quickly as possible - forgetting that in fact, they would have to play out the full ninety no matter the scoreline.

For anyone worried about what would happen to the youngsters that won over hearts last season for Chelsea with all these new faces need not worry. Tammy Abraham showed not only was he able to rise to the challenge but integrate virtually seamlessly with some of the new faces. He may have opened the scoring but it was his link up play with Kai Havertz that really stood out. Which should give Frank Lampard more attacking headaches options than he may have anticipated.

Chelsea 1-0 Norwich: The one where World Cup winners play Scrabble

Looking for that triple word score
What a ridiculous let off over the weekend. After an absolute shoeing by Sheffield United on Saturday, Chelsea somehow remained in third. Leicester's second half implosion at Bournemouth not only worked in Chelsea's favour as a result - but also took the heat off as far as embarrassing performances go. Man United failing to hold on against a motivated Southampton side was a bonus.

Sheffield United 3-0 Chelsea: The one that saw the Blues put to the Blade(s)

This did not feel good
What a shocking performance from start to finish. It would be easy enough to point fingers but ultimately this was a collective venture in failure.

It's easy enough to say after the fact that the lineup wasn't right. However, as much as Chelsea fans hope for Tammy Abraham's success - Saturday was not the game for him. Norwich is coming up mid-week and it would be a perfect match to find his confidence once again.

Crystal Palace 2-3 Chelsea: The one that saw Jorginho return

Nobody does it better
Who remembers when Crystal Palace lost seven games to start the season without scoring a goal - and then beat Cheslea. The last five minutes at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night brought back all those feels in the very worst ways. Going 3-1 up against a team that has scored the second fewest goals in the league should have felt a lot more relaxed.

But then it wouldn't be Chelsea if it were easy.

Chelsea 3-0 Watford: The one where an American starred on the Fourth of July

Olivier Giroud: Like a fine wine
After Wednesday's shocking performance against West Ham, Chelsea managed to bounce back with aplomb against another relegation battler Watford.

Frank Lampard dropped Marcos Alonso, Antonio Rudiger and Tammy Abraham for the part they played in letting Man United close the gap on fourth to just two points. While Rudiger definitely made two prolific mistakes in that match, he remains more consistent overall than his partner Andreas Christensen. I'm not saying the Dane has blackmail material over the boss. But I'm not not saying it.

Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea: The first one of Project Restart

Frank Lampard sits where he wants
It took more than 100 days but the Premier League is finally back in all of our lives. But not quite as we know it. No fans, lots of elbow bumps and far too many water breaks. But who cares?! How good was it to be able to watch Chelsea again? And by good I definitely mean nerve wracking and a bit shouty at times, at least in my front room.

Chelsea 4-0 Everton: The one that Carlo Ancelotti returned

King Carlo + Super Frank
Back in 2016 Antonio Conte's side had started to pick up momentum in what ultimately would be a title-winning campaign. But it was the total domination of an Everton side in November of that season that had the rest of the league talking even leaving manager Ronald Koeman with nothing but praise after their demolition.

Not that Chelsea are in the midst of a title-run... but this match had the same buzz around Stamford Bridge. That this Chelsea side are on the cusp of something and things are finally falling into place for Frank Lampard.

Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool: The one cup game Jurgen Klopp attended

You. Shall. Not. Pass.
Frank Lampard edges closer to his first trophy as Chelsea manager with a big win on Tuesday night. After a questionable run of results to start the year, the Blues have seen off Liverpool to book a date at Leicester in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The boss made six changes to the team that limped to a 2-2 draw on Sunday. Personally I'm not usually a fan of that number of changes for a cup game but after the performance at the weekend it was obvious the team needed a shakeup.

Bournemouth 2-2 Chelsea: The one where the Blues were desperate for the Cherries to stay up

Not all heroes wear capes
Chelsea were just five minutes away from allowing relegation threatened Bournemouth to do the double over them. While their away form since the turn of the year has left little to be desired this is not the sort of result for a side looking to solidify their Champions League place for next season.

Following the match, Frank Lampard chalked the result up to little more than a poor ten minute spell in the second half. Which is worrying that he seems to have completely forgotten how the game began.

Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham: The one Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge (again)

Master & Apprentice
A certain vociferous section at Stamford Bridge once again embarrassed the sensible majority. Jose Mourinho has moved on, you need to as well. If Chelsea aren't going to keep him employed - he's going to manage another club. And while it would have been nice of him to see out his days on the continent, he hasn't. Abusing the most successful manager in club's history isn't a good look. And if you really want to get under his skin, the best way would actually be playground rules - ignore him. No man loves attention more. He gives no ***** how he gets it.

Chelsea 0-2 Man United: The one where VAR lost the plot

VAR: Not a red...
Manchester United managed their first league double over Chelsea since 1988. And the first time they've managed it without conceding since 1965. None of those formidable Sir Alex Ferguson sides managed it. But here we are.

It was another frustrating night out at Stamford Bridge. And not the ideal preparation for a now very much in-form Bayern Munich side. Olivier Giroud once again overlooked for a starting place while Kepa still bizarrely remains on the sidelines.

Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 Chelsea: The one that Christian Pulisic made his debut

*INSERT OBVIOUS JOKE HERE*
Three pre-season games in and Frank Lampard has suffered his first defeat as Chelsea boss. And as much as anyone says that pre-season results don’t matter, it could not have felt good. But it isn’t all doom and gloom in July… those new mod kits got their first run out and looked good doing it. They deserved better — or at least a goal.

This was the first match that saw any players see more than 45 minutes of action. In fact two players managed to endure the insane humidity for the full 90 - and not to worry, David Luiz seemed to have a good frizz control product in his hair to keep looking out of sorts. Ironically the other player that saw out the entire match was not even meant to start. Willy Caballero heroically stepped in for Kepa who was struck down with some bug but will likely see his first minutes of the summer against Barcelona on Tuesday. No pressure.

St Patrick’s Athletic 0-4 Chelsea: The one that was a diamond in the rough

Why we really watched Wimbledon
Chelsea continued their pre-season adventures in Ireland on Saturday afternoon as they faced Europa League hopeful St Patrick’s Athletic. A number of young debutants who had lined up against Bohemians were shipped back to London to link up with the development squad and prepped for impending loan deals immediately following the draw. Which led to a number of more familiar faces joining the pre-season fray at Richmond Park.

Newcastle v Chelsea: The One where Chelsea won at St James Park

St James’ Park has not been a happy hunting ground for Chelsea. In large part due to Jose Mourinho’s shocking record there, but managers that followed in his footsteps seemed to carry on that tradition. But Maurizio Sarri is not a man to follow convention or tradition. Chelsea only did a win at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon - their first there in SEVEN years.
