As kick-off edged closer on Tuesday afternoon I was filled with a mixture of both excitement and sheer dread. With the World Cup breaking up the season it had been weeks seeing Chelsea in action. With the form they were in and injuries that had accumulated - the shocking backhanded decision by FIFA to hold this farce was probably for the best. It gave Graham Potter the opportunity to properly work with his inherited players - at least the ones who didn't jet off to Qatar.

Chelsea were just five minutes away from allowing relegation threatened Bournemouth to do the double over them. While their away form since the turn of the year has left little to be desired this is not the sort of result for a side looking to solidify their Champions League place for next season.

Following the match, Frank Lampard chalked the result up to little more than a poor ten minute spell in the second half. Which is worrying that he seems to have completely forgotten how the game began.

So about that last corner Chelsea turned … I think it’s about time someone pulled over and got out the map. I know men don't like to ask for directions and all that, but it *might* just be about that time.

If anyone genuinely has any idea what in holy hell is going on with Chelsea this season  - and I mean actual ideas, not snide remarks about players you don’t like - then please show yourself. Speak up. Be heard. Because it is a mystery. There is legititmately no good sound reason that Chelsea have just witnessed their 4th loss at home this season - only Villa have a worse home record in the Premier League. I'll leave you to chew on that for a moment.
