Crystal Palace 2-3 Chelsea: The one that saw Jorginho return

Nobody does it better
Who remembers when Crystal Palace lost seven games to start the season without scoring a goal - and then beat Cheslea. The last five minutes at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night brought back all those feels in the very worst ways. Going 3-1 up against a team that has scored the second fewest goals in the league should have felt a lot more relaxed.

But then it wouldn't be Chelsea if it were easy.

Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea: The first one of Project Restart

Frank Lampard sits where he wants
It took more than 100 days but the Premier League is finally back in all of our lives. But not quite as we know it. No fans, lots of elbow bumps and far too many water breaks. But who cares?! How good was it to be able to watch Chelsea again? And by good I definitely mean nerve wracking and a bit shouty at times, at least in my front room.

Chelsea vs Wolves: The One that Hazard rescued... just

This guy though... <3
It's not been a season to write home about for Chelsea supporters. On the pitch the football has often looked ponderous while the the seeds of discontent continue to grow in the stands. If ever a match fully encapsulated what the season has been like - look no further than Sunday's clash with Wolves.

It was the perfect opportunity to capitalise on Tottenham's annual implosion and the possibility of Manchester United and / or Arsenal dropping points, to reestablish a position in the top four. Or at least make a statement of intent. But once again, the tactics were wrong against a motivated side led by a savvy manager. One of the two managers in Stamford Bridge's dugout got their tactics spot on -- spoiler alert, it wasn't Maurizio Sarri.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea: The One That Saw 100K People Do a Mexican Wave

Back off Michy, he's mine
If we’re looking for obvious positives in Chelsea’s 3-2 loss to Real Madrid last night, it would be that they won’t have to face them in Champions League this season. Going 3-0 down to Real Madrid’s subs in the opening 45 minutes was not ideal. Hands up if you had flashbacks to last year’s pre-season!

While Real Madrid did have some excellent players on the pitch - they were not even close to a regular starting XI. If you do feel like a bit of casual self-harm and want to reflect back on the first half, remember there was no Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, The Ramos , Luka Modric, Toni Kroos,

Aston Villa vs Chelsea: The One We Saw Duck, Duck, Guus

What scoring your first PL goal should look like!
The only takeaways anyone can truly have from Saturday are the curries they picked up after the match. A result against an Aston Villa team, who could see themselves relegated from the Championship next season, is about as meaningful as Falcao’s signing.

So, it’s no surprise that Guus Hiddink used the opportunity to select Saturday’s lineup by throwing darts at a team sheet against the wall. Because why not. It was Aston Villa (sorry Villains) and Chelsea have nothing left to play for. Aside from that alluring Europa League spot that is well within reach.

Chelsea vs Scunthorpe: A Win, A Clean Sheet and The Youth

That FA Cup Life
Saturday saw Guus Hiddink and the FA Cup reunited - as if it were meant to be. But with an hour until kick-off, he quickly found out he was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t with the eleven who would make the cut for the starting lineup.

Hiddink was facing an uphill battle with the ‘play the youth’ crew. They were expecting an average age of foetus to start against League One side Scunthorpe. Only to be slapped in the face by one of the strongest teams Chelsea could have fielded.

It’s essential to the progress of the team as a whole that youth team products do get an opportunity to play in actual games rather than simply testing themselves against their peers. But they need to be integrated into the team rather than all thrown in at once with the pressure resting souling on their shoulders. They're still growing boys. As it stands, Hiddink chose the right side to start - and not just because they did their jobs and got the win.

Chelsea vs Aston Villa: The One that Chelsea Won

No Cesc, you don't get assists when Own Goal scores
Like spotting a Yeti, fans at Stamford Bridge were treated to a rare sighting on Saturday - Vin Diesel. And almost as good as that was - a win! Huzzah!! It was touch and go at times, but Saturday’s relegation battle saw Chelsea come away with all three points and reach the dizzying heights of 11th in the table! That’s right boys and girls — Chelsea are within touching distance of that elusive half of the table. And if that wasn't enough - they're almost evens on goal differential. No longer the worst defense in the league. Hope you lot got your pints in.

If ever there was a team that Chelsea needed to face in midst of - we'll call it a slump - it would be Aston Villa. The hosts have outscored Villa 13-1 in their last 3 visits and Tactics Tim has been struggling. And by struggling I mean taking 1 point from his last 21 going into Saturday's match. Not to say there was a hope in hell of another 8-0 appearing out of the mist … Chelsea are not Newcastle. But with his back firmly planted against the wall, Tim Sherwood was always going to play conservatively - despite the teams that have come to Stamford Bridge before Villa this season and just had a proper go.

Chelsea v Liverpool: The One with the Guard of Honour

The desperate face of trying to keep up with Hazard
Although the official post-season tour begins in Thailand at the end of this month - it quite clearly began on Sunday afternoon. It’s difficult to fault all those tired legs for failing to keep their motivation up after winning but not yet receiving the trophy against Palace last weekend. But it doesn’t make for great viewing - for all you fans of ‘boring, boring Chelsea’ - now is your time to shine.

Of course, not having anything to play for does lend itself to a few relaxing afternoons out and the opportunity to watch some players that may not have got the chance otherwise. Ruben Loftus-Cheek being the most obvious example. He was given a brilliant reception by the home support AND the media who have loved his pass completion (100%). Loftus-Cheek’s performance was just what the media and Football Manager fan boys wanted. It’s all about possession for those crazy kids at the moment!
