Chelsea 4-0 Everton: The one that Carlo Ancelotti returned

King Carlo + Super Frank
Back in 2016 Antonio Conte's side had started to pick up momentum in what ultimately would be a title-winning campaign. But it was the total domination of an Everton side in November of that season that had the rest of the league talking even leaving manager Ronald Koeman with nothing but praise after their demolition.

Not that Chelsea are in the midst of a title-run... but this match had the same buzz around Stamford Bridge. That this Chelsea side are on the cusp of something and things are finally falling into place for Frank Lampard.

Carlo Ancelotti finally returned to Stamford Bridge. Not ideal circumstances for that magnificent eyebrow. But he was deservedly given a warm welcome from the Chelsea faithful. Impossible not to love that glorious man who led the club to a historic double.

Bolstered from their FA Cup win over Liverpool earlier in the week, Chelsea came out fighting. Mason Mount was denied early on by Jordan Pickford but didn't have to wait long to find the back of the net. Just 14 minutes in for Pedro and Mount combining to give Chelsea the lead.
Pedro proving Chelsea will miss him next season

Seven minutes later it was Pedro slotting it past a hapless Pickford. Surprisingly it was his first Premier League goal of the season. The little Spaniard has struggled for minutes this season but you wouldn't have known it from his display. He was a man on a mission - tirelessly running at Everton's defence. And there wasn't anything they could do to contain him.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin came closest for Everton but ultimately scuffed his shot wide leaving Kepa little to do on the day. It was one of the Toffees only three shots. Three. Tempting to credit the formidable duo of Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma. But Everton were a shadow of themselves from beginning to end and didn't really trouble anyone other than their travelling support.

Olivier Giroud in all his glory
Playing for a new contract from Jose Mourinho Willian found the back of the net from 20-yards out. But only managed to revel in his personal glory for about three minutes. Olivier Giroud stabbed home a fourth from close range to put the game to bed and remind everyone that he should have been playing throughout the season a lot more than he had been.

Billy Gilmour followed up his man of the match performance against Liverpool with another brilliant display in midfield. His control of the game freed up Mount and Barkley to have potentially their best performances of the season. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Billy Gilmour is unphased
This may have been Frank Lampard's most balanced squad between youth and experience. While his
front three were all on the wrong side of 30, Mount and Gilmour were trusted behind them to drive play forward. He then went on to break important to so many Chelsea fans.

With the introduction of Armando Broja in the 85th minute - Frank Lampard had given more first team debuts than any other manager in Chelsea's history. Eight academy products have been given their start by the club legend. Broja joins Mount, Reece James, Billy Gilmour, Tino Anjorin, Ian Maatsen, Tariq Lamptey and Marc Guehi. Incredible scenes.
