Not for the first time has a female sent waves of gossip and controversy through Stamford Bridge. It emerged this week that Bridget the Lioness would be accompanying Stamford the Lion on his pre-season tour of Asia.
Although a spokesman for Stamford maintains the two are just friends, they have been spotted out on several occasions. As rumours of a female being with the team rumbled through the back pages, the club were forced to officially unveil Bridget as a ‘companion’ of Stamford so as to quell the latest surge of gossip about the private lives of Chelsea team members.
