A Point AND A Goal.....Babysteps back....

Handbags
Ronaldo and Handbags - Two words that have always been synonymous

Morning All

Sorry for the delay in getting this one out. I was trying to pretend it never actually happened, but it turns out, we did in fact drop a couple more points. But we did manage to finally find the back of the net, so definitely a positive. Admittedly, this was a lot sloppier than our game against Birmingham, and we should have taken advantage of their patchwork team. It was unfortunate that Tiote returned, but one man was definitely not our undoing. Although Kalou missed an absolute sitter, he managed the first goal and caused all kinds of problems for Newcastle’s defence. He’s looking more and more the part. It was interesting to see Carlo go with a semblance of a 4-4-2 with Kalou and Malouda as our new Duff and Robben. It could be an interesting experiment to continue with. Especially with Essien returning next week to add a little muscle back into our midfield. With the infusion of proper midfielders, we could also use a diamond. Only time will tell. But, I’d like to see Kalou more on than off. He’s averaging a goal about every 90 minutes. Surely that’s worth a few more starts and a little less sub appearances.

This weekend we are taking on Everton at home. And not only are we back at the Bridge but we should have our captain back. Alex needs to get sorted with his surgery sooner than later, and we need the loud man at the back to sort out our defence. Beyond that, we should see the return of Essien as long as he’s sorted out his dodgy toe. He has completed his suspension but has been bothered by the toe since our game with the other side of Stanley Park. Fingers crossed that he’ll be back and there won’t be any more passengers clogging up the midfield. Not that I’m naming names…or that they are Brazilian…..or they where the number 7….

The EoD has also said that Mr. Jenny….I mean Frank is meant to be back in training with his bff JT. I can’t seem him even making a sub appearance this weekend, but it is definitely something to look forward to, possibly against Sp*rs. As promised, if the EoD doesn’t put him on, I will find his seat and get him out there myself.

On that note, this weekend will be my last game at Scallywag’s for a bit, so hopefully you can all make it out. However, if you can’t make the game, definitely get all showered up for a night out at Hemingway’s for an impromptu Christmas type thing. Its located in Yorkville at 142 Cumberland Street but is definitely not as posh as its neighbourhood. Head to the second floor for football talk, alcohol and debauchery.

See you Saturday!

ps...although its a terrible red top rag, i hope you all read about the budding bromance of Mr. and Mrs Mikel! They are giving John and Frank a run for their money.
