Christian Pulisic facing another injury |
Christian Pulisic was withdrawn from training on Thursday afternoon ahead of Chelsea's lunch time clash with Southampton.
Thomas Tuchel insists that the American is not injured, but they are taking precautionary measures to ensure it does not become a bigger issue.
The Chelsea boss said of Pulisic that he has 'little issues in the calf, he stopped training Thursday before an injury.
'So I would not say that it's an injury. In the moment it's a risk management and he's not even injured - that relies to his history of having injuries, so we do not want to enter into the same cycle.'
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Pulisic's career has failed to reach it's true potential amid a number of soft tissue injuries.

Along with forward Olivier Giroud, he was Chelsea's star of Project Restart last summer. It served as an excellent reminder of why Chelsea brought him in from Borussia Dortmund and why Frank Lampard rewarded him with Eden Hazard's shirt number.
Worryingly the injury issues seem to have become more frequent. He was displaced at Borussia Dortmund by Jadon Sancho following a lengthy lay off and could be facing a similar fate in London.
Tuchel briefly addressed Pulisic's future in Friday's press conference. While he insisted he has plans for the American to keep improving and having an impact for Chelsea, he went on to say 'there are absolutely no decisions made for summer.'
Pulisic will not be the only one missing from Saturday's squad to face Southampton. Thiago Silva has not yet returned to fitness. However, Tammy Abraham and Kai Havertz are both training today and could be in contention.
