I've often imagined this face... |
But of course, for those of you asking:
They were closer now Fernando
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Fernando.....
You. Are. Welcome.
Anyways, Chelsea supporters were richly rewarded this weekend for the absolute loyalty to a man who spent more time not scoring than my manager at work.* That's right, one Fernando Torres scored two goals, had two assists, and even one the corner for the fifth goal against the mighty Leicester City. I'm pretty sure not only did Olalla 'get lucky', but half of West London did too. There was no stopping Fernando.
What brought about the Torres that we all knew was in there?
A tear in the space-time continuum?
The chokehold that RdM put on him after Napoli and a general fear for his life?
The fact that he stayed in a more central role than drifting so far off to the side he was making the linesman feel awkward in places that he shouldn't?
Well, you're wrong. It was the moment that Bosingwa won a ball. Torres scoring goals was not really the anomaly of the game when one considers this momentous play. I'll say it again, Bosingwa won a challenge. It was so shocking that play had to be stopped while everyone considered what they had just witnessed. That or the fact there was a player down, and the medical team had to assess the situation. But really, it was the first one. It gave Torres that special spark that he needed. Surely if Bosingwa could actually do his job as a defender, Torres could do his job as a striker. And job done it was.
So light up a cigarette and enjoy the afterglow. There was a long build-up but it was more than worth the wait.

*that may or may not be true.**
**it's definitely true
Special Note: No matter who you support, a moment to think of things that really matter as Muamba recovers in hospital. Lovely tribute from Gary Cahill after his opening goal, and full respect to Probert for not carding him. More than a little disappointing from those singing over the supporters who were singing for Muamba before kick-off. I'm embarrassed for you. You should be forced to walk around in jester hats and friendship scarves as punishment.
