Oh Arsene, You should be ashamed how you've been treating those bottles.
Happy Monday!
So, let’s talk about the result, shall we? So, its never good to drop three points, but this was certainly our best performance probably in the last 4 or 5 matches. With the exception of one defensive slip, we managed to hold it together in the first half. There was a serious lack of urgency, but the second half was all us. I mean, Ben Foster did get man of the match as he had to make some astounding saves. It just was one of those days when a keeper manages to come up huge. And if I’m being perfectly honest, I kind of thought Big Pete was looking most likely to score. He had some great passes when he drifted up across the halfway line. If we had a better solution for his back up, I’d probably throw him in as a centre forward and make Anelka take Ramires’ place. I’m pretty sure that no matter how ridiculous that just sounded, it would certainly be a better option. Sadly, the Mancs had the luck of not only playing Wigan, but 9 man. Wigan. There is no other way that they would have managed a goal on Saturday with the way they were playing.
But there’s something much more serious that needs addressing after the weekend. We’ve all seen it before, and just let it go, but I think we need to talk about it. They just sit there innocently trying to help the team and then *BAM* out of nowhere, grabbed and not even tossed, but thrown to the ground with such violence. I’m talking about the water bottles at The Emirates. The abuse that one Mr. Wenger has shown these poor vessels of hydration has just gone too far. Someone, please, move the water slowly away from Arsene so they can no longer get hurt.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, Zilina comes to the Bridge. Now, in theory, it would be fantastic to just seriously knock them about and get 5 or 6 goals to remind ourselves what we are capable of. However, as we’re basically awesome at the group stages and are through to the next round anyways. So, other than a little angling to ensure we’re top, we don’t really need this match. Its quite possible the EoD will rest a good portion of the squad for Sunday’s match with Newcastle who just got lit up by Bolton. However, it might be wise to let our senior strikers stay out there and get some goals under their belts so they remember that they can find the back of the net before Mikel or Big Pete beats them to it.
And for those of you irresponsible at work lot who got to see Carlo’s magic eyebrow take on the press, you’ll see that he has rubbished reports about him walking out on us. Apparently, the English journalists needed a story, and the water bottle massacre just wasn’t big enough for them. <at least my story was true>
Any thoughts on Xmas? Maybe a night out on the 4th of December? After that I’ll be in London town for a month and won’t get to see any of you. So, let me know if you want to put on some party duds and have some drinks at a more appropriate cocktail hour!
