I trust everyone had a fantastic Halloween. It was good to see the team got in the spirit wearing their Jack o’ Lantern like kits. Although, as for you lot, disappointing not to the costumes like last year. Not quite the same while watching without Petr Cech, super Frank, and Nicolas Anelka’s goal celebration. I’m sure one of you wanted to don my butterfly wings this weekend. ;)
Really here, I’d like to state we’ve got our three points and should really move on from thinking about the hot mess that was our match. But instead, let’s just focus on the second half and pretend the first 45 minutes just never existed. Ewood isn’t the easiest place to go, and our away form isn’t as formidable as it is at home, but that was messy. Looking at it positively, we’ve kept Big Pete on his toes. The rest of the team is doing an excellent job of making him look amazing. I gave him man of the match last week, I’d probably have to do it again this week, despite many papers giving it to Yuri Zhirkov. Granted, Zhirkov worked hard, but I don't think he was as effective as he could have been. It was also nice to hear the commentators giving us a hand by spending about 3 minutes slagging off the partnership of Didi and Le Sulk only to have them combine for our first goal. Well done to commentators curse. As for the second, well, who would have expected our big Serb to come up for the winner (aside from his bf Nima ‘I like Cape Cods ’ Yaghmaei). I mean, it wasn’t Champions League, and this wasn’t Liverpool . But I’ll take it. We should have tried to manpile him like the Geordies did after their first goal. It was epic. Branislav’s winner certainly warranted it after the dreck that was most of our match.
I’ll avoid talking about Clattenburg / Nani to save you from any rants as its only Monday and that’s a lot to take. But I will say that Gomes is a complete muppet for walking away from that ball. Here’s a hint, when the team’s aren’t moving up the pitch for your goal kick, you might want to re-think putting the ball down and walking about 247 yards away from it. Just a thought.
And for those of you who made it through the 90 minutes of Bolton v. Liverpool , that is some impressive willpower. Thankfully you were rewarded to see someone speak for Kyriagos’ behalf. What eloquent team member did they have step up to the plate for him? None other than Jamie Carragher. Awesome.
And if all that weren’t enough, for those of you following the tales of Andy Carroll’s sleepover at Kevin Nolan’s, it gets better. Nolan has revealed that not only does the 21 year old striker have to be in bed by 11pm, but also has to take the kids to school with him AND read bedtime stories. “We've got different ones to pick from, like Peppa Pig, and there's a monkey one I'm reading them at the minute." Oh, if only Joey Barton could join the party to hear about the monkey one.
Anyways, London Town has changed their clocks back on us so the time difference is a bit different. Wednesday’s game against Spartak should be at 3.45pm rather than 2.45. If you’ve shown up and missed the first half, my apologies. haha. Things should be back to normal next week when we face Liverpool , but I’ll be sure to let you know!
