Didi does not even need to be vertical to take you down.
We're all friends here, so you need to be honest.....who is a bit disappointed that we didn't get into double digit goals yesterday after watching the first half?! Yes, I know its greedy, but our first half display surely warranted a record to be broken. In fact, Ipswich supporters were all hoping for us to completely rout Blackpool so they would no longer have the record for the biggest loss. Fair play to Blackpool and especially Ian Holloway who stuck to his guns and maintained an attacking side in the second half rather than just parking the bus to stop the bleeding. And for whatever reason it worked. Despite our show of solidarity in the tunnel coming out as a whole team (thanks to JT for arranging that), but I'm pretty sure quite a few of our players had accepted the win and forgot to go for the juggular. They still put on a stumnning performance from front to back. Its hard to talk of individuals in a game like this as everyone came together and performed optimally and as a team. The less selfish Drogba is, the more magnificient he becomes. He was a fantastic leader yesterday. That being said he has no desire to captain all that often. For those of you who saw his hilarious post game interview he was all for getting Frank and John back as quickly as possible. While MOTM Malouda (which should probably be his official name now) could not stop talking about how much fun the game was and how he wished there had been more goals. We all did FloMo. And although not tested too often, Big Pete looked to be doing the business yeterday, and was definitely pre-Hunt Petr. From comments I've heard from supporters outside of our Blues, they are afraid, very afraid. They try to comfort themselves by undermining us and saying we haven't really played anyone. But they fail to forget
1. You need points from everyone if you're going to win the league. 3 points is 3 points.
2. Its not so much that our competition has been poor, but we've been really good. 2nd half Blackpool and West Ham both came out playing, they just failed to get a result.
I hope that some of you had the opportunity to watch some of the other games, or at least highlights. Maybe a little game at the Stadium of Light which had one of the strangest goals of the past year where Ferdinand tried to clear a ball but hit Cesc's boot with it where it travelled about 40yds into the net.The only way to top that would be by scoring off of a beach ball....oh... ps...thank you Darren Bent for not only taking two points from the Gunners, but allowing us to see the Professor lose his mind on Martin Atkinson.
Also, did United seriously give up another huge lead? Disappointingly the Berba rescued the game (and had an outstanding 2nd goal), but really, if you're giving up leads like that, you won't be winning games by "cricket scores" SAF. I think someone had a glass of red wine too many on Sunday.
Stamford Bridge will be taken over by some large topless men on Wednesday as we take on the Geordies at 2.45pm. Don't let their comedy supporters fool you, they are going to be tough competition. They were hard done by to lose to Blackpool and were outstanding on Saturday. Something about growing a crazy moustache over the summer has seen Joey Barton realize his potential as a really solid midfielder while Andy Carroll is all kinds of dangerous in front of the net. That being said, they did lose Harper to a bad challenge and will be forced to go with Krul the Warrior King in his place. He did well when he came on on Saturday but he hasn't exactly faced Drogba+Malouda+Kalou or Anelka+Sturridge+Kakuta or any perversion of those groups. Good Luck with that and welcome to the Carling Cup. With Citeh coming up on Saturday, it will be interesting to see who the Eyebrow deems should be rested. Citeh will definitely play their best XI against us, so how will we counter?
