From illicit affairs to babysitting the bench, there is nothing this man can't do.
Given our group and mastery of the EoD, we have once again made it to the knockout stages of the Champions League. OK, so it probably has a lot to do with the group, not really the toughest of competitors in Zilina and Spartak. After getting 7 goals yesterday, I’m really not going to say anything about Marseille now am I. Ashley Cole came out yesterday and instead of being thrilled with the four goals of our own, questioned our style of play. I’m on board with him. What happened in the first half? Again? Yikes. We really need to sort that little matter out. I mean, I love Branislav, but is he really going to pop up for a brace every week? Unless we get to play Liverpool, then I’m going to say no. More on that in a moment.
First off, did it not look like John Terry was on the bench to babysit? Now that we’ve basically got fetuses there, the EoD deemed it necessary to have a caregiver there. Personally, I was hoping he’d lead them out like the mascots before games, but nevermind. For all of you lovers of Ramires out there, where was this show of support when Malouda was a detriment? Sure, he may come good, he’s young and was fab in Brazil. But he’s not really there yet. Is playing him just because he cost so much money a good enough reason to have him out there. He may come good, and for our sake I hope he does. But, when you realize he’s not up to snuff, substitute him off. There’s a funny looking haggis eating kid who slots ever so nicely into our midfield. Just a thought. As for the big boys, a little worrying that our right back playing centre is showing the strikers how to get it done. To be fair to Kalou, he had a couple of great attempts which easily could have been goals. Spartak’s keeper did well to keep him off the score sheet.
Back to the Serbian’s favourite team, Liverpool. We head to Anfield this Sunday for what always seems to be a big fixture in our schedule. They may be struggling at the moment, but they’ve finally got back to back wins including the ever elusive away win. I’ll ignore the fact that a draw would have been fair and Bolton had at least one shout for a pen, the boost of the three points away will give Woy and his club the confidence that has been missing this season. We all saw Sicknote Joe also pick up an ‘injury’, and the reports are that he’ll be out for a fortnight, however, I think he’ll magically recover as he will want to dazzle us with missed penalties and Scholes-esque tackles. Everyone shows up when they think they have a point to prove, just ask Rafa about Didier. ;)
Hope to see you all Sunday!! Get there early if you want a seat (and breakfast in peace). Our neighbours from up north will be taking on Andy Carroll and his surrogate dad in the early match. Should be a good one!
