I'm pretty sure I looked the same way when his number came up on the sub board
I've always maintained that although waking up in the dark to watch a match sucks as hard as a Kardashian, its nice to get it out of the way and just watch the rest of the games unfold. That is if you win. When you lose and have to put your hopes into teams like West Brom, Sunderland, West Ham, and Bolton, you really might as well curl back up in bed and sit in the solace that no matter what, we'd remain on top. HOWEVER, these teams all mysteriously came through! West Brom gets the biggest shout out for completely embarrassing our next league opponent...in their house. Yes, West Brom put three past Arsenal and even missed a penalty at The Emirates. Lessons can be learned here people. And the lesson is, shoot at Almunia as often as possible, he'll stray out of his box and let you walk it in. Bolton, although blowing the lead twice, held United to a single point while West Ham got their first win by taking down Sp*rs. What does all this mean to us? Essentially, United grabbed a single point on us, but we still have a healthy cushion despite letting Carlos Tevez score on us again. PS Carlos...although the new haircut is an improvement, you've still got some work.
There was definitely a lack of urgency on our part at Eastlands. We had some good chances but didn't capitalize. Michael Essien was missing a little of his magic and constantly tried to reinstate himself in the game by taking silly long range shots. Yes they are spectacular when he hits them, but sometimes its ok to lay off and pass that ball around. Ramires should probably not be gifted another start. He's trying, but is not yet comfortable enough to make any sort of impact, and with Lampard sidelined, someone needs to make an impact. This game highlighted how critical he is as the core of our midfield. However, in his absence, there is a certain player who's been molding himself in Lampard's style, our little Joshy McEachran! He was fantastic again when he came on. Exciting to watch and great on the ball. If anyone can fill Lamps' boots for a couple of weeks, its got to be Josh. Im hoping he starts on Tuesday, and Sunday if necessary! Another player that should not only not start, but should not be brought on as a sub is Zhirkov. He was terrible. Sure he can chalk it up by not getting enough matches, but I'm pretty sure this is why you're not getting the matches Yuri. And on top of that he's become a want away. No problem there. Bye.
Marseille comes to the Bridge on Tuesday for our second Champions League fixture. They were beat in the last match by an own goal, but will prove to be a little more difficult for us I'm sure. But after two disappointing losses, the boys will want to put it out there for the supporters. Will Carlo be resting anyone for Arsenal or will he put it all out there and hope for the best. I'm content as long as Turnbollocks does not leave the bench for any reason whatsoever.
Now the results are said and done, we should probably go get a lotto ticket!

ps...my apologies for not recognizing the best moment of our match against The Toon....who else loved the guy that ran halfway across the pitch and then did a somersault?!? Nice to see the stewards were busy making sure everyone stays seated so this guy can get right into it. He might as well have ran to the 18yd box and had a shot at Turnbull.
